Alvin started off as a volunteer in the spring of 2018, helping with cell tracking and data analysis. Since then, he has worked as an undergraduate researcher for the next two years before being accepted into the master’s program and having his own project. Alvin currently investigates the underlying mechanisms regarding the near-surface motility and adhesion of the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. He does this by using strains of the bacteria with different dynamic properties and manufacturing surfaces with different topographies.
